I've had some questions about my process for adding embroidered details to my blocks. So here is my process. I start by removing the paper from my block (if it's a fpp block). I do not square up my block first. I am careful about being aware of the edges and don't stitch closer than about 1/8" from where I estimate the finished edge will be. I can always go back and add stitches but if the stitches get cut when squaring up the block. Finished Appa block with no embroidery I use 2 strands of black Anchor embroidery floss. When the embroidery line does not follow along a seam line or an obvious outline I use this disappearing marking pen to roughly draw the embroidery line. Because it is air and water soluble I only mark small sections at at time. Roughly what I can get done in 15-20 minutes. Small section drawn on as a guide. I take 2 to 3 backstitches at a time.
