Wondering where I've been?

So here's just a little taste of what I've been up to in the last 3 months.  High School Drama Club musical, Girl Scout cookies, stripping wallpaper, birthdays, snow, work, and the list goes on and on. I did do a little sewing and embroidery along with some hand quilting in my "spare" time. The sewing / embroidering / quilting Keychains for our amazing cast, stage crew and directors A bag to carry things back and forth from rehearsal Finally getting to slowly hand quilt my Labyrinth quilt. Hopefully it will be done by summer Zelda quilt was completed prior to rehearsals beginning Drama Club (this is all new to me so it was a learning experience!) Going to see some of the other local high school productions for inspiration Getting panels primed and ready for our amazing artist to work her magic A preposterous hat for our step-sisters Set building and painting Pretty proud of this tree Costume alterations and embellishments with Mrs. B And just like that it's over C

Bargello fun

My completed bargello quilt. So happy with how it turned out!! The colors in this photo match much more closely than the previous photos taken from my dining room in the middle of the night. Next up on my unfinished WIP hit list the Bargello quilt.  This bargello top was one of the very first projects I did when I purchased my first sewing machine. It is far from perfect, but I've heard it said many times "Finished is better than perfect". So I am embracing that and plan to get this quilted and finished in the next few days.

There and Back Again

A little something I've been wanting to make for myself. I read The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings when I was in middle school and fell in love with them. This design is based off of the 1937 First Edition dust jacket designed by Tolkien. Although I believe the version with the red sun is actually a redesign for the 50th anniversary. I've got some time to sew while I await more background fabric to complete the rest of the Julie and the Phantoms blocks I figured I'd squeeze this beauty in.  The design is by Gretchen Kohlhaas and the pattern can be found at fandominstitches.com along with loads of other Hobbit and LOTR designs. Finished block with 1/2" black and 1" burgundy border. Loving how this is turning out!!! Finished block with no borders

Finishing touches

I created these quilt labels using HTV and my Cricut.  As a family genealogist I know how important documenting is so I am trying to be better about labeling my quilts.  I know I need to add more information to my labels but this is a good start.   I'm also thinking about created a Sewing / Quilting journal. If anyone has done one or has advise as to additional information to include in my labels I'd love to see examples.

Another WIP on it's way to completion

Continuing with my 2022 goal to complete my pile of WIPs is this shirt quilt.  I had all the columns sewn together and was all set to complete it one weekend in late June. Then my husband ended up in the ICU. It completely derailed my train of thought. I couldn't remember how I planned to join the columns and I had such anxiety. I didn't want to mess it up!! But I'm back at it now and super excited to get this complete!!! There may even be an added bonus pillow thrown in with the extra shirt material :D  4/18/2022 update 💕👏  Completed the matching pillow. Now to find a box that it all fits in and get it to the post office and on the way home.  3/8/22 progress Ready for binding!! 3/10/2022 finished up late last night and was so excited I threw it on the craft room futon just to get a quick photo!! Really love how this turned out!!
