T-shirt quilts

Several months ago I was asked if I could make a t-shirt quilt for a friend who lost her husband a couple of years ago. She showed up with a laundry basket full of t-shirts. She wanted a Queen size quilt but lives in Florida so we didn't want it to be too heavy. We went through the t-shirts to prioritize the ones she really wanted in the main quilt and said I could do what I wanted with the rest and the quilt pattern was totally up to me.  Well not only did we end up with what turned out to be more like a King size quilt but 2 lap quilts and a pillow! I used every t-shirt including any logos or images that were on the sleeves or pockets.  I used the lightest batting I could find and I'm so happy with how they came out!!!   The pictures aren't the best but I did the best I could with all of the rainy days we've been having and they needed to make their way to Florida this week. So here we are, the last several months of sewing.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe New Year's.

2022 had it's ups and downs but overall I'd say it was a success!!  I did not accomplish everything I set out to do but I'm ok with that. I'm very proud of what I accomplished. I managed to complete 6 quilts / wall hangings. Published 34 patterns out of 46 along with other miscellaneous projects.

2023 is going to be all about the things that make me happy and getting rid of the things that don't.  I may let some of the patterns that I've designed and not yet tested go and not stress over them. Some blocks that have been completed may be donated. For now I'm not going to stress over it.

I ended 2022 by finishing my Nightmare Before Christmas Jack and Sally blocks by adding the perfect border fabric and adding some frames I had around the house. I absolutely LOVE how they turned out!!  I also began making butterflies (they're kind of my thing) using a beautiful and simple patterns by lillyella.com (https://lillyella.com/2015/09/02/butterfly-charm-block-paper-piecing-patterns/). Not 100% sure yet what I'm going to make with them but they make me happy.

Here are a few photos, sorry they aren't the best. It's been overcast and rainy for the last few days.

The first of 15 butterflies I have completed so far.  I will post a follow up with them all soon.

You can see the swirls in the fabric that made it perfect for NBC!
