Rainbow TARDIS - Road Trip Project

What do you do on a long road trip when you're a passenger?  I decided to take up cross stitching which I haven't done in a very, very long time.  I tried taking a photo each day of my progress but I did miss one day during our travels.  This took me a total of 41 days to complete.  Now I just need to decide what I'm going to do with it! Pattern is by Alice Alan and purchased at AICrossStitch on Etsy. 14 count Aida cloth using DMC floss 21,861 stitches

Hearts

This was fun and so relaxing to put together! Just randomly grabbed some larger scraps of fabric and cut 2" squares. The white background is also 2" squares but you could do strips if you wanted to. The red border I cut at 2.5" and the binding is the leftover 2" color blocks.

This would make such a cute baby blanket just by either cutting the squares larger or adding more hearts. I think that will have to be a future project!!

Finished size is approximately 24" x 24"

When testing out different layouts. I initially had 2 different white background fabrics. One is plain white and the other has a tone on tone print. Eventually I decided I wanted all of the hearts to have the print so made 2 more for the final project. The 2 using the plain white fabric I made into the small 12 x 24 hanging.

Some of the different layout options I tried. I think this first one would be really cute with a secondary pattern in the center.

Live ~ Love ~ Create ~ Sew

An original design I created for my sister's new sewing space. I'm happy to share it with you all for your personal use. Please so not sell my patterns or creations made with the patterns without permission. Because the words are individually pieced you can use them on their own or change the layout anyway you want it.  For my layout I added a 5" x 8" piece of background to the left and right of Live and Love. For Create I added a 5" x 2.5" piece to each end.  I have some photos below that I took as I was laying everything out and deciding on which I liked best.  This can easily be done with scraps from your scrap bin!
