Wondering where I've been?

So here's just a little taste of what I've been up to in the last 3 months.  High School Drama Club musical, Girl Scout cookies, stripping wallpaper, birthdays, snow, work, and the list goes on and on. I did do a little sewing and embroidery along with some hand quilting in my "spare" time. The sewing / embroidering / quilting Keychains for our amazing cast, stage crew and directors A bag to carry things back and forth from rehearsal Finally getting to slowly hand quilt my Labyrinth quilt. Hopefully it will be done by summer Zelda quilt was completed prior to rehearsals beginning Drama Club (this is all new to me so it was a learning experience!) Going to see some of the other local high school productions for inspiration Getting panels primed and ready for our amazing artist to work her magic A preposterous hat for our step-sisters Set building and painting Pretty proud of this tree Costume alterations and embellishments with Mrs. B And just like that it's over C

Silence In The Library

I am so excited to have my Silence In The Library quilt top assembled!!!  The original quilt design by Jeanie Payment along with almost all of the blocks are available over at FandomInStitches.com. 8 of the blocks are my own design. I will post links to those for you in the block descriptions. All of my Doctor Who patterns can be found here.

The only adjustment I made to Jeanie's original design is the crack in the wall above the TARDIS. More information on that block can be found here.

So here's a little tour of the quilt. Starting at the top left.

1st Row

Raven sitting on a book titled "Face The Raven" representing Clara.

4 books titled "Impossible Astronaut", "Voyage of the Damned", "Mummy on the Orient Express" and "The Lodger"

2nd Row

Stacked books titled "The Unicorn And The Wasp", "Silence" and "101 Ways To Make A Souffle". The Souffle title is another reference to Clara aka souffle girl.  On top of the books are some applique designs I purchases at stringtheoryfabricart.com. We have a Dalek, Cyberman and an Ood.

I only titled 1 book in this block "Fires of Pompeii". The jar represents the jar that contained the 10th doctors severed hand.

3rd Row

Mantel clock with the time stopped at 12:17 representing the Girl In The Fireplace and the broken mantel clock.

This block has the chameleon arch watch with a book titled "Journeys End". Pattern info can be found here.

4th Row

TARDIS keys and the 13th doctors sonic. The book is titled "Day Of The Moon". Pattern info can be found here.

Fez and bow tie because they are cool!
5th Row

Book titles: "The Empty Child", "Turn Left" and "Twice Upon A Time" with a beetle embroidered on top representing the beetle attached to Donna's back in Turn Left.

Banana with books titled "Blink: The Angels Have The Phone Box", "Midnight", "L.I.N.D.A." and "The Girl Who Waited"
Right side

1st Row

Telescope and red beanie is a block I designed honoring Bernard Cribbens.  The book is titles "Searching The Stars" by W. Mott. Pattern info can be found here.

K9 with books titled "The Hungry Earth" and "The Girl In The Fireplace". Pattern information can be found here.
2nd Row

Tiny TARDIS representing Peter Capaldi's episode "Flatline" and a book titled "Frankenstein". Pattern information can be found here.

Adipose from Donna Noble's return to Doctor Who in the episode "Partners in Crime"  Pattern information can be found here.
3rd Row

Embroidered dinosaur and space ship. Books titled: "Dinosaurs On A Spaceship", "Are You My Mummy?" and "The Rings of Akhaten"

Framed Sunflower with a book titled "Vincent And The Doctor". I really tried creating a foundation paper pieced sunflower block but I just couldn't do it justice and decided to go in this direction instead.
4th Row

Bend book with a book titled "The Husbands of River Song"

Rose in a vase of course for Rose Tyler
5th Row

Weeping angel with 7 DVDs. There is an alternative block that has the weeping angel with books. Pattern information can be found here and here.

Sneakers with some books titled "School Reunion", "Planet of the Ood" and "Bad Wolf". The sneaker pattern is from FandomInStitches.com and they are listed as Luna's sneakers. I shrunk the pattern down to fit a 10" block. The pieces were really tiny but it was worth it!

Live ~ Love ~ Create ~ Sew

An original design I created for my sister's new sewing space. I'm happy to share it with you all for your personal use. Please so not sell my patterns or creations made with the patterns without permission. Because the words are individually pieced you can use them on their own or change the layout anyway you want it.  For my layout I added a 5" x 8" piece of background to the left and right of Live and Love. For Create I added a 5" x 2.5" piece to each end.  I have some photos below that I took as I was laying everything out and deciding on which I liked best.  This can easily be done with scraps from your scrap bin! Enjoy and Happy Sewing! The Owl House ~ Stringbean

FINALLY!! Luz has her palisman and isn't she the cutest!!!   I'm making it available in 2 sizes. I wanted a 12" block to turn into a pillow but since the other main Owl House blocks are 10" I have provided that option as well.  The 10" block will be slightly more challenging on the eye as it will make those pieces smaller. But I know you can do it!! Pattern - 12" Pattern - 10" Difficulty: 2 This pattern is free for personal and non-profit use only. Not to be used for manufacture or distribution. Sale of this pattern or quilts made from this pattern is prohibited. Click here for more patterns from The Owl House String bean with embroidered details String bean with no embroidery

Block size: 12" x 12" Difficulty: 3 (due to the smaller pieces) Click here for the pattern Belos with full embroidery I wanted to show some differences with embroidery to show that you don't have to go all out like I do on these blocks. On this I would also do around his right eye to make that pop more. Otherwise you could totally get away with stopping here. Looking better already with a nose, mouth and scar.  Ready for embroidery. Emperor Belos before embroidery This pattern is free for personal and non-profit use only. Not to be used for manufacture or distribution.
