New sewing project and other stitchy updates and a finish!

I really wanted a cute project bag to take on vacation. My mom gave me the main fabric years ago. It was leftover from a pillow blanket she made many years ago. I had the perfect fabric to go with it and off I went.  I made the large bag, a small zipper pouch, thread catcher, project mat and wrist keychain (not pictured).  Tangled progress. This is at  72.16% complete. That's 197,210 stitches down 76,070 stitches to go And I have a finish!  My travel project is complete! My Stained Glass Purple Rose is complete. It has been on several adventures but finally it's done.  This is 27,783 stitches. Started 13 Jun 2025 and finished 13 July 2026.

More fun with my Brother Innov-is 500D

I've been in a foundation paper piecing rut lately. I can't seem to focus and feel like I need some small projects I can finish and have the satisfaction of a finished product quickly. So I've been playing a lot with my new to me embroidery machine and I'm so in love. Halloween is one of our favorite holidays so I have played with some Hocus Pocus files I purchased on Etsy and made a little mug rug. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with the "I Smell Children" one yet. I've also played with some key fobs and made a little autumn wall hanging. Stay tuned for more Halloween embroidery fun coming soon! Sketchbook cover & detachable pencil case

Finished this up last night and I'm so happy with how it turned out!  This version is quilted and features a 5 leaf clover (Asta's grimoire from Black Clover) and on the other side is a Triforce from Zelda.  I used the test stitch outs of the clover and triforce on the inside of the flap and on the pencil case. 5 leaf clover grimoire Zelda Triforce Test stitch of the 5 leaf clover on the inside of the flap Test stitch out of the Triforce used in the pencil case Snaps on the back corners of the pencil case Snaps on the inside of the bag lining Pencil case easily snaps in and out

New Adventures In Machine Embroidery

I've been playing and learning more about my embroidery machine over the last two weeks.  LOVE IT!  It has it's limitations since it will only take a 4x4 hoop. But I can work with that. Have had some Ooooops moments. But overall I think I've done rather well. This on will go into a block for my Doctor Who 'Silence In The Library' quilt. Not 100% a Van Gogh but I think it conveys the meaning. Experimenting with floating my fabric.  LOVE this design!!! First practice run with thee sunflower design Made a little mug rug to go on my desk. Tested out a quilt label idea Making a sketchbook carrier for my DD to put in her backpack so her sketchbook doesn't get all banged up. This was just the test. Working on the real one now. SO close!!!! Almost had it all in one go, then on the 3rd one I didn't flip it correctly.  No problem, cut them all apart. Stitched one more correctly and pieced everything together. It was good practice on how to orient the designs!

Look what I got!!!!

I am SOOOO excited! It's not new but it's new to me and I'm so excited to dive into machine embroidery to enhance and embellish my quilting and sewing. I need a lot more practice with lining things up and figuring out the font sizes and all. But I'm going to have so much fun as I go! This is a Brother Innov-is 500D.  Perfect entry level embroidery machine.

Finishing projects

Here are a couple of projects I finished in the last week or so. A chandelier style pattern as a wall hanging to put in my almost complete dining room.  It's going to look amazing!! This started life as a butterfly using 2" squares but I wasn't loving it. So I had a date with Jack and took it apart and started over. So glad I did. Love how this turned out!! Here it is actually up on the wall.  This pic shows the colors better. Original butterfly pattern I also finished this block from LOTR. I added to the top of it to have room for the quote which I added using HTV. It says "Not all those who wander are lost".  Not sure yet where it's going to go but I'm happy it's complete!

The Owl House ~ Stringbean

FINALLY!! Luz has her palisman and isn't she the cutest!!!   I'm making it available in 2 sizes. I wanted a 12" block to turn into a pillow but since the other main Owl House blocks are 10" I have provided that option as well.  The 10" block will be slightly more challenging on the eye as it will make those pieces smaller. But I know you can do it!! Pattern - 12" Pattern - 10" Difficulty: 2 This pattern is free for personal and non-profit use only. Not to be used for manufacture or distribution.
